Riverhead Street Painting Festival
This is the second year that the family and I headed to Riverhead, NY to watch the street come alive with color at the Street Painting Festival hosted by East End Arts,
The streets are lined with artists - young and old, seasoned and amateur - bringing their vision to life. One artist I met was recreating an image from a small patch laying off to her side of Snoopy flying his dog house. When I happened to mention how cool I thought her piece was, she told me the patch belonged to her husband, and was from his military uniform. You could barely make out "96th Fly..." with "squadron" written beneath it, but that's all I got. I'd love to know more about it, but she was obviously busy, and, quite honestly I wasn't going to pry...
Anyway, are you interested in checking festival out, or perhaps painting your own square next year? You can learn all you need to know about the Community Mosaic here.
These are a few of my photos from the day. Enjoy!
