Jewelry Care
Over time, Sterling Silver, Brass, and Copper naturally develop a patina—especially when exposed to heat, humidity, or moisture. This is part of their character and beauty. However, if you prefer a brighter finish, these metals clean up easily with mild soap and warm water.
To help preserve their original luster, our brass and copper pieces are sealed with multiple layers of microcrystalline wax polish, which helps delay oxidation and protect the surface.
✦ Tips to Keep Your Jewelry Looking Its Best
Remove jewelry before bed, bathing, or swimming
Take off rings when washing your hands
Avoid leaving pieces in the bathroom (heat and humidity accelerate oxidation)
Store Sterling Silver in a ziplock or airtight bag to reduce tarnish
FAQs
-
Although it doesn’t happen to everyone, brass and copper can sometimes react with moisture and skin oils, causing a green tint. While unsightly, this is harmless and washes off with soap and water. Keeping both your skin and the ring clean and dry helps prevent it.

Gold Filled jewelry is made by bonding a thick layer of solid gold to a base metal (typically brass) using heat and pressure. This creates a durable, long-lasting finish. In contrast, Gold Plated jewelry uses a thin layer of gold that can wear off more easily.
Gold Filled jewelry offers the look, feel, and wearability of karat gold—at a fraction of the price. With proper care, it can last 30 years or more.

Not quite—and intentionally so. Many of our pieces, especially Sterling Silver and 14k Gold Filled bracelets, are cut and shaped by hand from raw metal sheet. You may notice slight variations in width or surface texture. These are not flaws, but part of what makes each MerCurios piece unique and relic-like.
Note: Some of our brass and aluminum bracelets are made from pre-cut blanks, which are then finished and personalized by hand in our studio.

Yes — many clients wear their pieces daily. Just keep in mind that exposure to water, lotions, or cleaning products may speed up tarnish or surface wear, especially on copper and brass. Treating your piece with care will help it age with grace.

The stamping is deep and permanent, so it won't wear away. Over time, the oxidized finish used to darken letters may soften, especially with frequent wear or polishing—but that only enhances its organic, aged character.

MerCurios is a name I created—part Mercury, the alchemical messenger and element of transformation, and part Curious. It speaks to the nature of this work: thoughtful, shape-shifting, and open to what lies beneath the surface.
-
Yes, but it’s not fixed—just like the jewelry. The logo was created to feel symbolic, possibly ancient, and intentionally open to interpretation. It's meant to stir something intuitive. What it means to you might be exactly what it was meant to mean.

MerCurios pieces are inspired by what’s felt but unseen: memory, intuition, imperfection, and quiet beauty. Each one is made with the idea that it’s waiting to be discovered—more like a relic unearthed than something newly made.
