King Zogs Castle

A video compilation of our families adventure sauntering though the woods and discovering what remains of King Zogs Castle in Nassau County, New York.

If our little family adventure has left you wanting more, I stumbled upon this write up by Luke Spencer that goes into detail on the history of King Zog and his Long Island Mansion, the Knollwood Estate. It’s an interesting read.

I learned that King Zog was banished from Albania by Mussolini during the start of World War II, and fled to England escorted by the British Secret Service. He bought the Knollwood Estate in 1951, for $100,000 in diamonds and rubies. His New York Mansion was torn down in 1959. He died in exile in France in 1961.
