Where the Story of Amethyst Lives Now
Where the Story of Amethyst Lives Now
Amethyst has been carried through centuries as a stone of clarity, restraint, and quiet transformation.
Long before it found its way into rings, vessels, or talismans, it lived first as a story—one passed down not for its drama, but for what it reveals about change, mercy, and remembrance.
When I work with amethyst at the bench—wrapping raw points into rings, necklaces, or vessels—I’m aware that I’m not simply shaping a material. I’m continuing a lineage. Holding a story in form.
The Origin, Remembered
In ancient lore, amethyst was once a maiden, on her way to worship, whose path crossed that of Bacchus, the god of wine. Enraged and reckless, he vowed revenge on the next soul he encountered. As danger closed in, the goddess Diana intervened, transforming the maiden into clear stone to spare her fate.
Stricken with remorse, Bacchus poured his wine over the stone, staining it violet.
And so, amethyst was born.
It is a story of restraint and regret, of protection and transmutation—clear becoming colored, innocence becoming memory.
(You can read the full origin story in an earlier post here.)
Why Amethyst Still Matters
Stories endure when they remain useful—when they continue to offer meaning beyond their moment of origin. Amethyst has lasted not because it is rare, but because it carries a quiet instruction: pause, temperance, reflection.
I’m drawn to working with raw amethyst points rather than polished stones. Their irregular edges, fractures, and natural terminations feel honest. They resist perfection. They remember where they came from.
In wire, I don’t aim to tame the stone. I aim to hold it—to create tension that protects without overpowering, structure that honors what already exists.
The Amethyst Double Finger Ring — Made to Order
The double finger ring is intentionally bold. It spans space, anchors the hand, and feels less like adornment and more like a talisman.
Each one is made to order, wrapped slowly, responding to the specific stone chosen. No two are alike—because the story they carry is never exactly the same.
This piece asks to be noticed, but not for spectacle. It holds amethyst as a reminder: to move with clarity, to act with restraint, to carry the past without being ruled by it.
Ready-to-Ship Amethyst Necklace
Worn closer to the heart, the amethyst necklace offers a different relationship. More intimate. More private.
These ready-to-ship pieces are finished and waiting—each one a quiet companion, meant to be lived with daily. They are for those who prefer their relics subtle, their meaning personal, their stories close.
Amethyst Bud Vases — A Stone as Vessel
In the bud vases, amethyst shifts roles—from adornment to container.
Here, the stone becomes a place to hold something else: a single stem, a dried bloom, a moment of stillness. Light passes through it differently. Time slows around it.
They are not decorative objects in the traditional sense. They are pauses made visible.
Carrying the Story Forward
Myths survive because they adapt.
They move from voice to page, from page to hand, from hand to form.
Today, the story of amethyst doesn’t live only in ancient texts. It lives in the weight of a ring, the quiet presence of a necklace, the stillness of a vessel on a windowsill.
These pieces are my way of carrying that story forward—
not rewriting it,
but letting it continue.
From the studio, through the stories.
This space is an open journal of sorts—where stories, symbols, and small moments gather. Some entries trace the creative process, others reflect on inspiration found in nature, history, or daily life. All are woven with the same intent: to offer a glimpse behind the relics and the meanings they carry.
